Default 04 Fuel gauge

Anyone else with an 04 think that the fuel gauge has 2 or 3 times more segments than it really needs?

Yeah, I guess this is my biggest gripe about the car and it's taken me 4 weeks to find it.

I guess what I mean is that each segment in the gauge seems rediculously small, so that it's constantly moving down.

Yeah, having the fuel light come on when the gauge reads zero seems odd as well.

Averaging 21-22, got 24.5 on my last tank. Mostly short trips and commute traffic though.

I really haven't gotten to do some extended freeway cruising in it yet.

Same here. I haven't bothered to check mileage yet...it was breaking in first 600miles and I have been VTECing ever since...LOL when I slow down I will check it.

Hmmm, so far this has been an all-MY04 thread. I always thought that the higher resolution of the MY04 fuel gauge would be an improvement over the earlier gauge. What's not to like about it? Are you saying it goes up and down a lot? That happens with all fuel gauges.

I am also getting just under 25MPG and I have been VTECing regularly Can't complain about that! My last Corvette got 10MPG when you drove it aggressively. (Big blocks SUCK the gas...)

My only complaint about the fuel gauge is that it goes from 1/4 tank to zero WAAAAAY too quickly. Probably within just a few miles (seriously, like 10 miles). Although, I did also notice that even when the gauge reads zero there is still almost three gallons in the tank.

Good luck!

My beef with the fuel guage is like after just a few miles of driving, one LED turns off on the guage. And then it like hangs out at half a tank for awhile, then nosedives into empty territory, and I still have gas left.

I'm too scared to take it to the fuel idiot light, but it'd be nice to have it be a little more representative of actual fuel.
