Default 04 questions, max speed for each gear.

Just past 600 miles, i notice the max speed for first, second and third is different than my 01. I had to use third to pass 60mph. anyone know what the max speed is for each gear for the 04

I believe it's ~37 in first, 57-59 in 2nd, and 79-80 in third. It may momentarily touch higher numbers before falling back on the limiter. Don't know about 4-6.

I did some playing around with the numbers based on what I've heard the 2.0 will do and running the difference in gear ratios and redline to extrapolate what the 2.2 should do. I have no idea if I'm even close on this although hopefully, I'm not too far off.

2nd - 50 mph
3rd - 75 mph
4th - 100 mph (also verified in the dyno video shown at vtec.com)
5th - 125 mph
6th - 157 mph (assuming it will pull redline in 6th gear)

FWIW,
Drive Safe,
Steve R.

PS: Please excuse my ignorance, but what's the point of the posts showing only the word "bump," I see from time to time? There's one on this thread too. Thanks!

So the thread goes back to the top. So it doesn't go to the next page and less people might see this to put insight.

This has been asked and answered many times - I do not have the thread memorized, but it is out there - seek and ye shall find.

P.S. The numbers posted are off - second gear is good to about 58 mph.

ok, did some testing today.

1st 37mph
2nd 59mph
3rd 78mph
4th 100mph

i hit 115, which was about 1000 rpm from redline in 5th

feels like i have to use one more gear then my 01, so the 04 lost some top end
