Default 04 rear bumper conversion

alright, im chilling with my ex gf today and her little sister runs into the house crying and says come out here. i go outside and the nose end of her mom's RX8 is kissing the rear end of my S2000. i was like tight, i wanted a new rear bumper anyways.

i have an 02 and im gonna just do the 04+ rear bumper conversion, but on hardtopguy it says you need 2 brackets that extend out to do it. does anyone have any information on this for the guy im gonna have re-do the paint?

we're not going the insurance route, she's gonna cut me a check for the damages, in case you wondered.

anyways, thanks for the help. im gonna go cry.

you dont NEED the brackets, but they will help the lower valance from sagging. I used 2 4'' bolts and 6 locking washers from autozone instead. the 04 bumper hangs lower than the 03, so the bolts will serve to 'extend' the lower mounting points.

i think some have just used extra long bolts to adapt the rear bumper and nothing more.
