H and A Accessories has the '04 XM system for $402 - includes receiver, attachment kit and antenna. They say it retails for $477. Sounds like the '00-'03 cars are just as "XM ready" as the '04s. (Although that depends on what is meant by "receiver" I guess. Is it a replacement for the whole headunit? Or is it something that plugs in to the '04 headunit?)

Sound from a FM Modulator is low-fi at best. Try to interface the XM unit with the Honda cd changer input with either something from Blitz or PIE, there has to be an adapter out there. Also there's a new XM Commander being introduced now which is a bit more compact than the Roady.

Actually I have the Delphi Skyfi unit in my Expedition with the FM modulator and the sound is quite good. Not as good as a direct input but not bad at all. With all the natural open road noise in the S2000, I'm not convinced you could actually hear any difference between an FM Mod and a Direct connection (IMO).

But does anyone know for sure if the Commander would interface directly with the Stock Honda radio head unit?

I have to agree here - it even states in the owners manual how to enable the XM radio and even get a preview!!! I definitely felt cheated ... the sticker also states,"Prewired for Xm radio'' I wonder if we have any legal aspects to this??

With the "prewired for xm" sticker, they are legally correct, it is pre-wired to accept the accesories. The owners manual section probably has some sort of statement in there like "on select models" or "if factory option is installed"
