Default 05 S2000 or 05 old style S4?

Audi is having a big sale blowout on remaining 05 old style S4. I think I can talk it to about $40k base price. Assuming that, with about $10k OTD price difference, which one do you get?

The new and old S4 is exactly the same, interior, engine, everything, only exterior is different and in my opinion, when I drive, I look at the interior, not the exterior..

what do you think?

Man, that's a tough call. I love the S4... it's right up there as one of my top sedans. Did you test drive it though? Audi is known for disregarding road feel, even though they make great handling cars. I don't think it will be as rewarding to drive, even if the performance is nearly on par.

Your call. If you want two extra seats, that's the perfect car. It's a win-win choice

I really like the S4 and if I didn't get the S2000 I would probably get the S4. I can't believe they are having a big discount on them now. Did you say the base price was $40,000 so that means they are $8,000 off. That sounds like a great price!

drive them back to back if you can.
heck just make sure you drive them both... they are SOOOO different and built for such different people, that one will certainly grab your attention more then the other.

my best friend has an 05 S4 and although it is powerful, it is amazingly numb. yes it goes like a bat out of hell, but you really have no idea idea that anything amazing is happening until you look at the speedo and realize your doing 100mph. isolated is the best way to describe the S4. he had a SMG M3 that was lemoned before he got the S4, and he wishes he had his M3 back everyday. i let him drive my s2k, and he wanted to trade his S4 in the next day. of course, he has a soft spot for luxury and isolation, so i'm sure he'll stay with the S4.

comparing the S4 to the s2000 is like comparing caviar to a steak. one is suppose to taste good, one does. but then if you have a taste for caviar, the S4 is for you.

I have owned my S2000 for almost 6 years and my B6 S4 for a little over
a year. The S4 goes fast easily while the S2000 requires some effort.
The S4 is far superior as a daily driver, especially here in Wisconsin.
Both have been very reliable, and I enjoy owning both. The only downside
to the S4 is the poor fuel economy, 12-16 if you drive hard. Good luck.

After a night thinking, I decide I'll go for S2000 because of convertible reason. I always wanted convertible and looking at the convertible market, S2000 is the best out there for sport car considering fun, money factor and performance (well, Boxster S is the best, but can't afford the insurance at this point since it costs twice compare to S2000 and I want to save $ for house as renting sucks).

Looking at the S4, it will be about $50k OTD and I can now get S2000 for $32k OTD which brings to about $18k difference. If I were to spend $50k OTD, I would get a Boxster, not S4 since I am craving conv.

My friend has the new s4. The 2005.5 I belive. Its nice, but its slow, not communicative, doesnt handle well, boring to drive, and will most likely have electrical problems. Get the s2k. DO NOT base your judgement on that car because of the torque. Thats the reason my friend sold his m3 for it, and regrets it everyday.

You won't go far wrong with either of these cars. It is just personal with me, but I find problems from the compromises when a manufacturer attempts to convert a sedan to a sports car. I drove (and really liked) the S4, but would clasify it more as a Euro muscle car than a sports car. But, heck, a refined muscle car may be what you really want, so go for it if that's the case. It's the same old story as with "S2k vs this or that". Here, the S4 will blow past the S 2000 accelerating out of a curve, but the S 2000 will blow by the S4 going into nd through the curve. Your choice.

Thanks,
Richard
