Every modern car has some type of limp mode. It's usually where the car minimizes it's performance to keep stuff safe and within the limits, ie. ignition, valvetrain, engine components. You could have experienced the cold rev limiter not letting you engage vtec.

VSA is Vehicle Stability Assist(operates brakes(individually), and controls engine if need be). The CDV is the Clutch Delay Valve. Delays fluid moving through the slave cylinder to prevent shock through the driveline. Pretty much, it slips the clutch for a split second.

guys no offense but one of best friends drives an 05 gt mustang and his car is hands down faster than my car in any kind of drag....it may be due to the 300 hp or maybe the 320ft lbs or torque.....

my car doesnt feel fast until i start actually driving it
my 04 acura TL is probably faster than this car in a drag but it wouldnt stand a chance in a corner

please this topic has been argued forever

buy a c5 vette it goes faster in a straight line

Who buys / drives a stock s2k to be fast in a straight line? The car is incredibly well balanced and plenty fast once the road isn't straight. I have a 400whp 2500lb gti, and it doesn't make the s2k seem "slow", so I doubt some 3600lb mustang with 150 less hp will.

if you and the passenger weigh a lot, it will be slow. The S is all about power to weight. Add a lot of weigh in a low torque high revving 4 engine = slow.

Another controversial thread.

Why don't you get a Viper or something in the catagory, that is if you are rich enough?

OP, if you think the car was slow compared to a 325 or a B16 Civic then something was obviously wrong. It's a quick little car and you should definitely notice some acceleration coming out of either of those cars. But it's certainly not a car that's going to boil the tires at 60mph.

It's quite obvious that some of us here are in complete denial, the S is most certainly not as fast as a 03-05 Cobra or LS1 Camaro, it doesn't matter what speed, or what rev's you start it, you're going to lose against any driver that has a right foot. Also, C5 Vette will destroy an S2000; not only in a strait line, but in pretty much any automotive performance comparison that you can dream up.

The S is a great car, it's fun, and it's fairly quick, but it's no supercar.

237 horsepower about 190 horsepower at the rear wheels on a 1.8 ton car, what do you expect?
