Default 1/4 Mile

I own a 2003 S2000.

Beside the Cold Air Intake from K&N, the Test Pipe, the Headers and the air spacer; I'm running completely stock. So I haven't started modifying it yet;

Now I know this car is meant for Lapping more than Drag, but I would like to add a little bit of performance in the Drag area.

What do you guys think about changing gear ratio? Value for the money? In term of performance of acceleration would it be useless. I have been told that I would loose around 5-6 MPH of Top Speed and would gain 3 Car lengths in the 1/4 mile. What about the MPG does gear ration affect a lot?

Are those figures accurate?

Would it be a waste of money, shouldn't I wait and get a Turbo Charge / Supercharge in a year or two? Every where I read that Comptech is the best for S2K in Supercharger and that InLinePro are among the best in Turbocharger for S2000.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

Get a better clutch, lightened flywheel, rick's 4.57 or 4.77 gears with the comptech reinforced diff housing, this would definitly improve your quarter mile! top speed is limited to +/- 250-220km/h depending on 4.57/4.77 gears

With these mods, your car would handle like a beast when launching. but if you want more power, go SC/turbo, but then again, you still need the comptech Reinforced diff housing..

Go to ricks accesories he is a sponser and the site will walk you through everything. I know that you can get the reinforced dif housing cheaper through rick than at comptech.

(dgpeak10, congrats on one of the nicest mod lists I've seen yet. Great Choices.)

snowybeast,
If you have the money and want to drag race the s2k, you can't beat a turbo setup. Broadest powerband, period.

lower compression (pistons or headgasket)
lots of boost
high performance clutch
2-way clutch-type LSD
4.77 gears
slicks

BTW,
Aem's stock motor (turboed) drift car with 378rwhp ran a 12.0 1/4 mi on 17x8 drifted toyos, so just imagine 500hp with 4.77's and slicks

gears are probably the best mod for the money. Yes you will lower top speed, but you don't need to go 155mph anyway. MPG is not directly effected. The only reason it would go down is because your engine is now spinning faster to go the same speed.. higher rpm generally = more gas.
