Default 1/4 mile time Question...

i just got back from drag racing....
some how all the cars were running slower than i thought. (Compare to times i see on internet.)

my car has no spare and tool box, spoon intake, buddy club single exhaust.

my best time was 14.4

R/T .453
60 2.400
330 6.225
1/8 9.410
MPH 77.70
1000 12.15
1/4 14.4
MPH 96.8

that was with perfect launching too....
it's not only my car... alot of 03+ Cobra's were running 13.5+
even moded 03 Cobra's were running 13.0-13.2

saw ls1 vett running 13.5 too... huh??

is it elevation??
it wasn't hot or anyting... it was night time to...
even my buddy (spoon intake and spoon exhaust) ran tiny little slower than me....

can anyone help me here??

What is your idea of a perfect launch? My best launches are 7000 clutch dumps for a 2.0-2.2 60' time with my best 1/4 mile at 14.1 on a cold night. On an easy takeoff I usually get 2.2 60' time around 14.5 1/4 mile bone stock. Are you spinning a lot on the launch? Tire pressure? An average person will not get those magazine printed 1/4 mile times, always expect a little slower unless you are a professional or like to trash your car. This is in hot muggy a$$ Florida on top of it!

If you ran a 2.4 60' time that wasn't a perfect launch. Try getting some drag radials or something. Doing a burnout with regular street tires is pointless since it just wears them down. DR cycle so they actually get stickier when they heat up and grip better.......good luck, 14.4 is nothing to be ashamed of as a beginner
