Default 1/8 Mile drag wins. Very surprised!

I was unawear of this fact but our cars will run right with a 98 Cobra (305 hp v8) ... a 94 Stealth R/T (320 hp twin turbo v6)... new model but older Ford Lightenings. The local track here is only 1/8th of a mile so I can only get up to about 80 mph. My best run was 9.24 but thats with a horrible reaction time of .5 seconds. All I have done to my car (speed wise) is put an Ingen cold air intake on it. The first car I ran worth mentioning was a 94 Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. I ran the car a total of three times. The first time my S didn't go into second (which I recently found out wasn't my fault and is becuase of the 1-2 shifting problem of the 00' models) but I didn't loose much time because of this and beat the stealth by .2 seconds. After the race he told me he missed third so we went again. He got the better lane this time and my car AGAIN! didn't go into second. Well I got beat this time by about .3 seconds. The third time I lost again but he wasn't even a full car legnth infront of me... only beat me by .078 seconds. After that I ran a new model mustang GT. What a joke! I didn't have a good run at all and still beat him by about .6 seconds. The car that really surprised me (and surprised the driver of the car) was a 98' Mustang Cobra. Yes I lost the run but only by .11 seconds. Afterwards I went and talked to the guy and he said his poor car wasn't running as good as he thought it should be (sounds like a sorry attempt of trying to make himself feel better than a 4 cylinder honda almost beat his big supercharged v8 mustang to me but maybe he was telling the truth) and that he had put new gears, headers, and exhaust on the car. Im just guessing but this is probably giving him at least 10 more HP. So thats a 250 hp (est) honda against a 315 hp (est) mustang and he barely beat me. Well to sum up the day I was really impressed with my S. Its a lot faster than I though it was. I am extremely surprised that our S will run that close with a 320 HP stealth. And this also proves to me again that american horsepower isn't all its cracked up to be. Maybe the people I ran just didn't know how to drive but it was still a very fun day.

Im not trying to be offensive here but is the 98 mustang cobras the old style with the rounded out headlights? The only Cobra that is supercharged is the 03 which has 390 hp and will literally rape a S out of the hole. The reason why you beat the stealth R/T is power to weight and also the fact that his car is 9 yrs old running a turbo. Im not saying you didnt beat these cars but they are a bunch of other variables into the race. Good kill anyways.... ask them to race you on the twistys

Your reaction time has nothing to do with your 1/8 time, only who gets to finish line first.

if the 98 Cobra was supercharged, then it would be aftermarket.. Also a Vortech supercharger with aftercooler on a 98 Cobra adds approximately 180 hp and 140 ft lbs torque to the base 305 hp/300ft lbs torque.. this car would RAPE a S2000 in any type of acceleration contest, if the driver could get traction in the Cobra..
