Default 10 days, can you beat that?

So, I was excited to finally be in the S2K club. I bought a shiney '07 NFR beauty on the 17th, and then on my way into work tonight somebody plowed into me. (I was turning, she was turning in her Murano and tried to drive OVER me to get into my lane. She grazed 1/2 my car with her front bumper/tire going about 10 mph.) I am completely beside myself. Worst part? While I have comprehensive, HER insurance company claims her policy was cancelled 3 weeks ago, so now I've got THAT nightmare to look forward to.

On the upside, I wasn't at fault, I took no physical injuries (other than deep psychological scarring,) the car is still driveable, and I'm pretty sure there's no frame damage. However my driver's side mirror is broken, driver's side door, rear quarter panel and my (beautiful) rear rim are all screwed up.

Can anyone else beat 10 days before they had an accident? More importantly, any suggestions on how to cope with driving a crappy rental after this while my baby is in the shop?

Well I spun the car out for the first time 20 days into owning it, bald tires, wet roads and overconfidence got the best of me.

Nothing damaged other than my pride. Sucks to hear though, hope it gets fixed and you sue the crap out of that bitch for touching your baby

Someone did a hit and run in a parking lot on mine when it was six months old. Put a football sized dent in the left rear quarter panel and tore the rear bumper cover off when pulling away. He/she didn't even leave a note!

I feel your pain, but it will be all better soon. You will be happy again!

Ouch. My condolences.

Hopefully you also have collision coverage as comprehensive won't cover that.

Another aspect to these things is the "loss of value" due to the repair being listed on Carfax.I would run a Carfax now to determine the value and then after the repair is complete and compare the value. The difference is the loss of value.

A Murano is a fairly valuable car to be running without insurance. It might be a good idea to talk with a lawyer to see what your options are.

Also be certain to file notice with the state that the vehicle is uninsured.

Good luck and sorry to hear about your care

Chris

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll get the financials worked out, I'm certainly going to be asking for diminished value reimbursement as well. I've got full coverage, including uninsured motorist, so I should be okay. She had an '09 Murano with the full Nav/extras package, so I'm def going after her for everything.

Your insurance company will fix your car and then go after her to get reimbursed. You might have to get an attorney to get your loss of value from her directly, but talk to your insurance company to see what they will/can do for you.

Oh no, sorry to hear about that. I bought my 07 just about a month ago and have been so cautious while driving and parking it, although I have already scratched up my front spoiler on a curb.

I would make sure that she pays for all the repairs, especially since she didn't have any insurance (she should be able to afford it driving a 09 Murano), it not, go after her anyways. I have no sympanthy with persons driving on our roads w/o insurance.
