Interesting...I didn't think the tint would go on the outside of the window. But I guess it would be hard to put inside.

BTW, how much does the tint on the headlights dim them at night?

Speed 2000 - Please let us know the specific type of static cling tint that you used. I have tinted my rear plastic window with Gila Glare Control Static Cling Tint (CS78). It looks fine from the outside, but the view out is distorted, like looking through slightly blurry glasses. I used a soap solution to install it. TIA.

I bought my stuff from Pep Boys. It's made by a company called Axius. The product is called Insta-Cling static tint 20%. Came in a roll with enough tint to do two rear windows. ($2.89). Very easy to do.

***Note that the static tint goes on the outside of the window***

First i made sure that the back of the window was completely clean. (I didn't have Plexus, so I used Meguire's) Then I unrolled the sheet over the back window enough to cover the approximate size of the window. Once I did that, I cut out that peice from the roll. Then I laid the sheet over the back window (it helps to have someone hold the other side while doing this. I wasn't so lucky so I had to do it on my own with the wind blowing LoL.) The bottom of the window is a straight edge, so you line the straight edge of the tint to the window and then you cut from the top accordingly. I believe I had to trim about 2" off the top. Once you get the top cut right, you can trim the sides to shape. Don't worry about not cutting the top or the sides exactly to the size of the window or having jagged edges after the cut because you can tuck what's left over underneath the fabric top.

Applying the tint. Get a spray bottle and put about 2 drops of dishwashing liquid in there and fill it up with water. Spray the window down and lay the tint on the window. It'll stick to the window like crazy. (Also get another person to help hold the other side too) I used my credit card edge to squeegee (is that how you spell it??) out the water from the middle. Just keep doing that until all the air bubbles are out. After finishing, i'd wait for at least 24 hrs before putting the top down so that the tint can dry.

PM me if you have any problems.

I used the GILA CDB78 Bronze on my car. The smoke doesn't seem to be as clear although using too much soap will cause either color to form a bit of a haze. Also, make sure the soap doesn't have detergent which will also cause cloudy areas. Baby shampoo works fine. I agree with What The in using just a few drops, you want the solution to be slippery, not sudsy, and 2 or 3 drops is enough.

As far as the headlights, they seem just as bright but no longer have that crystal blue glare that causes the high beam flash from oncoming traffic. I have yet to be high beamed since covering the lights
