Question 100,000 Mile Maintenance

Hey I’m looking to buy a 2006 plus years of the ap2, and the cars in my price range have around 100,000 miles on them. Is there any special or needed upgrades/maintenance that I should do to a car that has that many miles on it.

Thanks

Nothing magic about 100,000 miles. The 2006 and later cars have a Maintenance Minder built into the car which will specify what maintenance is necessary and when. Consensus here is to do a complete fluid change on receipt of the car and then follow the schedule. Fluids include anti-freeze and hydraulic fluid as well as oils for the drive train. The 2005 owner's manual has the maintenance schedule in hard copy as there's no Maintenance Minder in the pre-2006 cars. I have a 2006 and refer to the 2005 manual many times.

Checking valve clearance is paramount in the 2006 and later cars. Tedious Saturday morning's job but amazingly simple to do.

All the fluids are comparatively inexpensive and it won't hurt anything but your wallet to exceed even the Severe Service schedule.

Not if you are looking for a great excuse to enjoy the man cave with the dogs, a little music, and an appropriate beverage!

If I were buying a DBW S2k with more than 30K miles on the motor I would want to somehow get confidence that the valves are not burned. I'd pay for a compression test to be done or do it myself if the seller would allow. Also, the very first thing I would do, before anything else, is check the valve gaps and adjust where necessary.

I second rpg51. Traveled out of state to buy a completely stock 2008 with approx 70 k miles that had blowby, the conclusion on the thread I posted was burnt valves. A compression test is your friend.
