Default 10k valve adjustment?

I've read things about having valves adjusted at 10k as a mandatory service? I don't see anything in the manual and everything I've read has been off the forums. You guys have any insight on why the valves are adjusted so early? For referance I have a MY06

I didnt get mine adjusted till 30k. It is most likely a preventive measure.

Its not recommended by Honda until 105k, but its not a bad idea to get it done earlier. I wouldn't do it as soon as 10k though, I'd waited until 36k and only 2 of the 16 needed adjustment (and they were close, so frankly I think it was a waste of money).

Over here, they adjust the valves at 50.000km. When I was at the stealership a few weeks ago for the 35.000km maintenance, they said the next time they would adjust the valves!

I thought you were referring to the fact that you were gonna try to get the revs to 10.000

Actually, the service manual says "do not adjust them unless they are noisy".

As one poster noted service interval is 105k miles, so it is not necessary according to honda.

I have an MY06. I did mine at around 4k miles. The valves were all within spec, but that is a range, and they did range wildly within that spec among the various valves. I had them all set to the tight end of spec. Noticeable improvement in smoothness at idle and at hwy/fwy speeds. Increase in power from 2.2k-redline. Loss of power below 2k. Defineately worth it to me!

Valve adjustments are pretty easy and fun to do. If you have a service manual, I recommend you give it a try. The access to valves are pretty easy on this car.

That way, you can set the valves to the tight side of the spec.
