Is it possible for a s2k to run 12's on the 1/4 mile without NOS? if it is then what would it take and how much $ would it take. thanks

my buddy drove my car with the stock Vortech kit. The best time was a 13.2 with a trap speed of 115mph. That's a stock clutch(which was slipping). Street tires(which was slipping). No launching the car(because it would of been slipping). If I had street radials/slicks, aftermarket clutch. The car would have been a low 12. It it wasn't a full street car. With a little bit of weight saving. You never know, maybe it can see 11.

Wow, that's quite a claim. So, your buddy can get your car from 13.2 to 12.1-12.3 with just some drag radials and a clutch? That's quite amazing...and unlikely.

I have yet to meet an S2000 that has enough power to need drag radials. Our car (even lightly boosted) does not put down enough power off a launch to need meats. I don't think that drag radials would increase his time...the car would probably bog worse and you'd see a slower time.

How well did you do when you drove your car?

286 to the wheels on a dyno jet dyno. Some numbers have been different with the Vortech kit. I have seen a few higher than mine. But cars and motors are never the same. I ran the car with a RS*R exhaust, dc header and Vafc. With 93 Octane.

I can't imagine running 11's with just a Vortech kit (running normal boost levels). I imagine that if you launched with that kit (with drag radials) you may be able to mid to high 12's but low 12's?? Once you put on the drag radials you will put an exponential amount of stress on the car. Again the main concern here is the drivetrain.. good luck!!

Chris

PS-Arm chair drag racing is fun.
