I was passed a c5 conv vette at about 100mph this
morning at 6:45am. I was thinking... RACE, RACE, RACE,

so... anyway.... we topped the hill with me right behind
him, so i glaced over, then hit it up to 153mph, but...

NO CORVETTE!!!!!! He ended up catching me about 3 miles
later at a redlight (we got off at the same exit)

I did test my speedo vs the mile markers at 60mph, and with
my new tires (they have full tread), my speedo is actually
reading ever soo slightly slow. it only took 59 seconds for 1 mile.

fun, fun fun till the cops take my s2000 away!

Scot, please be careful. Better get out your Nomex. The natives will likely prepare some flames for you.
What tires are you running now?

i have 225/45/17 AVS Sports on front w/ 245/40/17 AVS Sports out back.

I don't have much fear (as most men don't) of driving
fast. There were no cars on the road, and I had 3 lanes to
do ENDO's... ahahhahahaha

Scot

The corvette did not race, not that I thought i could outdo him, but.... I did just about keep up with a C5 coupe at the track..he got a car or so on me on the big straight and I caught him in the turns.

So I assume you are pleased with your Yokos. I was choosing between the A520 and RE730. Put the A520s on the back today (225/50/WR16). I immediately noticed that the OEM SO2s were a little wider than the new 225/50s. They felt pretty loose the first few miles in the rain but seemed to improve as the day went by. I have a few days to decide if they are for me or not. At half the price they were tempting and they feel much better than my badly worn SO2s.

svann - i lear't a leason on tires... the RE730's suck
donkeys! I bought those first and hated them from day
one and never did like them. I finally burned off the
backs with about 8k miles on them, but the fronts are like
new. they were SSSSSOOOOOOOO hard... not sure how they
could have a traction rating of A.??

I love the AVS Sports in comparision. haven't had my
SO-2's for a long long time, so I don't really remember
how they felt.

You gotta watch those C5s on the highways... They can move out in a hurry. But most owners dont usually display the power, I guess its a maturity thing... they figure they dont need to waste the effort of getting on it and then (possibly) paying the price...

I know thats how I was when I had my 99 C5. Excluding track days, I've driven the S2000 far more aggressively than I ever drove the C5...

Must be something about the S2000 and what it brings out in its owners
