I don't think he hit top speed. He hit 154(5) @ 8000rpms.
He needs to invest in a Valentine 1 though...

hmmm, 154? 155? thought I noticed 155 on the video at IHOP. *ponders*

The error everyone refers to is the inaccuracies of the speedo. Different size tires or makes can cause differentiation in actual speedo readouts. With your quite new PZeros with a bit more sidewall (how it appears by nekkid eye) might actually increase the actual speed. But the speedo itself is only supposed to be accurate up to something like 60mph and anything after that has a slight variance - just like those crappy polls they have with pie charts and bar graphs in USA Today. But the s2k's speedo isn't *that* off!

Uhm, you can't get to 154 in 5th. Do you mean 6th?
The parenthesis meant the speed. I was trying to saying that he went 154 or 155 @8000 rpm. I wasn't sure since the topic said 155 and I remember looking at the video and the top speed was 154. I didn't mean in 5th gear. My bad...

I had it at 146 yesterday, 6th gear, top down, no mods, 2760 on the odo. The car had a little more to go, it hit 146 within 2.5 miles from a 80 MPH start.

Of course there was no traffic in sight.

i didn't get to witness this w/ my own eyes.. i didn't have any change in the car.. neither did someone else that decided to run the the toll booth

i just took the feeder and cruised around and caught up w/ them later. found myself in the colin creek mall parking lot.. doing the old skidpad test and emergency u-turns.. oh and v-tec'd reverse.. heh. it does get shaky when braking.

the videos pretty cool.. gets up there quick.. pulls away every few seconds and the speedos up another 10mph.. right as were talking about how often we get questioned about the cars.. some guy comes up to the table to ask what they are.. (note: none of us have shaved emblems) john had a good idea.. just having a pamplet ready... it does happen alot. i guess the cars can't pass for ferrari's but a hot blonde chick in austin thought they were jaguars.
and alot of people have bought it when i say 'nsx prototype', in a way it is.

I don't think DavidM's issue is with your tire diameters. Rather, at high speeds, speedos are notoriously unreliable -- it's usually much more accurate to use the car's known gearing and the (more reliable) tachometer reading.

So: You observed 8000 rpm in 6th gear. It's well-known that at 60 mph in 6th gear, the S2K's stock gearing results in an engine speed of 3300 rpm. Therefore 8000 rpm in 6th corresponds to 145 mph. Conversely, 155 mph corresponds to a bit over 8500 rpm.

Cheers,
John
