When buying 18in. wheels, what is the recommended wheel and tire sizes?

Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages of 18in. wheels? Will they affect the odometer, speedometer, ABS, etc. in anyway, and if so, how can I fix it?

225/40-18 on 18x8 on frt
285/30-18 on 18x10 rear

Fronts are just a little larger rolling radius than stock, rears are dead nuts.

Speedo, ABS, gearing, odo,........... all cool.

I am running 225 40 18 and 245 35 18. On 18x8 and 18x9 wheels.
My next set of rear tires will be 255 35 18.

I have 225/40 in the front and 255/35 in the back. Speedo/Odo seem to be fine.
