I just did a search on this subject to find out how to do it. Seems like it's a pain, my question is do you have to replace coolant? If so, what's the supported brand here if any?

If the temps in your area don't drop too much you could go with a 50% mix of coolant , 50% water and add a bottle of Redline Waterwetter additive (corrosion protection and lower temps).

Since I don't deal with anything below 60 F I go with a little more water than coolant since water has better heat transfer properties than coolant and with the additive I don't have to worry about corrosion or pump lubrication.
