You definitely can vtec in reverse, I've seen it done.

Not sure on the speedo in reverse though.

hmmm maybe it is another ap1/ap2 issue. maybe the designers got all lazy while designing the ap2 and screwed over the 1. I really wanna see the vid of that guy that did it tho!!!
