Default 1st to 2nd Grind w/ no warranty problem

I was wondering if anyone knows what i can do about my little problem. I have a 2000 S2000 and i have the 1st 2 2nd gear grind problem. Although i only have 29k on the car, my waranty is up because my car is five years old. I took the car to shingl springs honda here where i live and the guy said i would have to pay to fix it.
I asked him if they would fix it if i was eligable for the good will consideration by the service manager or zone office like the bulletin said and he said they most likely wont do it cause i am the second owner of the car and someone could have raced the car to make it that way. Anyway he was kinda a jerk, and i was wondering if anyone knows how i should go about getting ahold of the zone office. i dont even know what that is, i just really would like to get the prob. fixed if i can.
And the guy also said it would take 12 hours to fix the problem, not the 8 that the service bulletin said, and that the fix doesn't even make the problem fixed. He said the transmossion is notchy and will be nomatter if they try to fix it or not. A-hole
I would appreciate any help

I used to have the 2nd gear grind all the time, then switched to Redline fluid and it seems to have helped alot.

He is making the assumption that you need new syncros. He won't know this until he takes it apart and even then, the "problem" may not be fixed. You will be paying for 12 hours labor and parts and still have no assurances that the grinding will be taken care of.

You are far better off to change the tranny fluid and the clutch fluid and then do a pedal adjustment if still necessary. You might also try to refine your shifting technique a bit to resolve this. Many times, this is all it takes.

What I've found to help is this:

You know how when you shift from 4th to 5th, and from 5th to sixth, how you push the stick to the right as well as forward and backward to get it into the next gear? Well, you have to learn NOT to push it to the left at ALL when going into 2nd. Instead, try shifting slower to get the technique down. Try just pulling straight back, allowing the shifter to be able to hit part where it naturally will slide to the right some as it goes into 2nd gear. After you practice this some, you will be able to shift very fast and not grind.

You still will sometimes though, that's just how this car is

I can't agree with this. If you don't apply pressure to the left when going from 1st to 2nd, the stick's natural spring action takes you to 4th. I have found that on my car, 2nd is right against the side rail. Being too far to the right causes the grind.

My car always grinds into 2nd for the first 3-4 minutes, then shifts more smooth than butter!

it seems every other day i have this slight grind into 2nd for the first couple of shits, then it goes away, had this with my miata, only the S trans is smoooother. sometimes i get this going into 1st from neutral when coming to an abrupt stop...never force the car into gear, glide it in, unless you are speed shifting then the car seems to love this and all bets are off...never grinds when i shift very quickly...go figure, i think most of us have this symptom...now the poster may have a different level of grind, some adjustments and fluid replacements may help...i wonder if he noticed this when he first drove the car?
