Default 1st Gas Mileage Reading...

1st gas mileage reading:
4300 miles
City Driving (semi-spirited)some wide open spaces, some traffic and top down occasionally.
24.369 MPG
Not burning any oil.
I guess this is pretty average?

Sounds good to me except for the top only being down "occasionally".

Too freakin' hot here in So. Florida to keep the top down much during the summer. But, the winter is another story. -Ken

I recently went on a 700 mile round trip when the car had about 8000 miles on it. I opted to travel via the more scenic two-lane highways rather than the interstate. I averaged a hair over 28mpg. I probably could have bested 29mpg by traveling on the interstate. Next time I make this trip I will use the interstate route for comparison.

Why would you lose fuel economy from those mods unless you changed driving habits?

Then I believe the MPG changes will be undetectable - the intake and exhaust provide a handful of ponies in the upper RPM range, so the volumetric efficiency of the entire drivetrain has not chamnged enough for you to see numbers directly attributable, unless spark/fuel mapping has also changed. Any differences could be attributable to air temps, tire pressure variances, differing fuels as the switchover begins from summer to fall, etc.

I say to hell with fuel mileage, enjoy the car, or buy an Insight.
