1,000 miles is a block away and that means my first oil change.

Anything I should know?

I understand that there is some special "break-in" oil in there now and that now I should use some kind of synthetic.

I used Mobile One in my last car (Porsche 944). Is there a type I should ask for? What weight? And will I be changing the oil filter as well this time around?

Do you need to change the oil at 1000? My service manager say's to wait until 3500 miles.

 

wait until 3750, and stay with non-synthetic till about 10,000. Be sure to check your oil regularly, it tends to burn some during break in.

 

Why stay with non-synthetic for 10,000?

 

My owner's manual says 7500 miles or 1 year. I was concerned that I hadn't quite reached 5000 miles after a year, but needed to get it changed before a long trip.

Leave the oil in there for a while.

 

I use to live in Ptown. Liked the place when you could race in Hacienda Business Park.

 

I checked my oil a couple nights ago, and I'm one circle away from low ....... and I don't even have 2,000 miles on the car yet
