Default 2.2l Ap1 Its Possible!

read an article about a tuner swapping his AP1(vintage style s2k) drive train for the newer AP2 drive train. so it is possible and i guess worth the effort. driving impressions were given from professional drivers and they said it felt like a turbo'd s. it was pretty much a full J's racing car and completly gutted to increase times. has does anyone else have more detailed information on this car? if i drop by a scaner i'll post pics.

why wouldn't it be possible? The 2.0L in Japan and Europe are using the newer drivetrain with the F20C, aren't they?

Is it new engine, old ECU? So 2.2L with 9K redline.

If so, interesting. If not, ho hum.

Possibilities:

New F22C1 engine with old ECU and 9k rpm = cool
Old F20C engine with 2.2 liter stroker kit (Spoon, Amuse, etc.) = old news
New F22C1 engine in old '00-'03 chassis = what's the point? Minimal gains for significant cost
Either S2000 engine in completely gutted chassis = feels like significant hp increase

are you guys reading something different? He's saying they swapped a F20C into a 04 "drivetrain". That's nothing special to me since it comes from the factory like that everywhere except North America.

Apparently.

To me it reads: "An AP1 with AP1 drive train. Remove AP1 drive train (engine, gearbox, driveshaft, diff, axles), install AP2 drive train".

Or does drive train not include engine?

I PM'ed Woodwork one time regarding whether he liked his 02 or 04 S "better" and he replied that the best of both worlds would be having the 04 drivetrain put in the 00-03's.

I've had both cars and I like my 04 better... my 00 made 192 rwhp, my 04 makes 218 on the same dyno. *shrug*
