Default 2.3 liter S2K, torque monster

Feels has just started offering a stroker kit for the S2K. 300Hp and 225 ft lbs. Torque. Feels out of Japan. I'm going to see if my buddy in Japan can find one for me. Just what I've been wanting for my S2K, some actual streetable low end power. 480,000 yen for the kit.

No, the S2000 is perfect, remember. It needs no additional torque. You guys kill me.

Those numbers are wrong. Highly unlikely that a 2.3 liter will ever make 225lb/ft of torque.

I thought the cylinder walls were already to thin to *safely* bore the engine to a higher displacement.

If it's a stroker kit, it'll just change the length of the stroke, and not the bore. However, that would take the engine geometry away from the "oversquare" design (where bore and stroke are roughly equal, or bore is slightly greater). Longer stroke engines result in higher piston speeds (for a given RPM), and resulting increases in the forces at the rod, piston, and pin. With any other engine, I might not worry about this much, as I'd be going for lighter pistons, stronger rods, etc...

With the F20C, I have serious doubts that I could improve upon those components by a significant percentage without really ridiculous cost. On the other hand, I'd be reluctant to stroke this engine without making significant upgrades to the internals, since we're already tip-toeing around the limits of what those pieces can do with decent reliability.

On a completely different note, I was at the Kentucky Speedway last weekend for an IRL race preceeded by an Infinity Pro Series run (where Jason Priestly was injured in practice). The Infinity Pro cars are rev-limited at 8200 RPM, which sounded really strange as they were going around the track. It made me wonder what the S would sound like in comparison! (goofy, I know)

As Prolene pointed out, the other thread has a REALLY good explanation of the sordid details from UltimateLurker. What I posted was the "Stroking for Dummies" (NOT THAT KIND!) version.

Mine's a version that I can understand.

I guess Nissan/Infiniti can't make a decent engine that rev much past 8,000 RPM! I saw where they are going to stop supplying engines to IRL and only support this developmental league.
