Flame me if I am looking stupid?

from www.honda.com www.edmunds.com shows the same?

2001 Honda S2000 Roadster
AM/FM Stereo with CD Player and 4 Speakers

If we have 2, then are there rear outputs for the speaker on the head unit and not in use?

True, but why would www.honda.com list a 4 speaker layout? In addition, the OEM sub is only 1 speaker if I am correct. If there are additional low-level outputs, (left and right channel) then are they full range (5-22KHz)or only pre-outs for lows only?

I suspect that the head unit in our car is not S2000 specific, and is used in other models with 4 speakers. There are only 2 speakers in the S2000, but the head unit has the capability of driving two more, and the fader is built in. The outputs are all speaker (high) level.

Anyone got an electrical wiring manual to check if there are two additonal outputs from the head unit, and if so, where they are terminated?

Could it be that Honda originally planned to put speakers in the fake grills either side of the head unit? Has anyone thought of putting additional speakers there to see if the extra speakers would improve the present sound system? (Or would two opposite speakers tend to cancel each other out?)

Yeah I noticed the "4 speaker sound system" comment for the S2000 on the Honda web site. Did they ADD 2 more speakers for 2001 or something? Is it a typo?

Hype,

What color S2K are you driving? I have seen three others in the Memphis area and know of one other (yellow) which I have not seen.

I have a red one coming in March. I will let you know a speaker count then.

I just spoke the Shop Foreman at my dealer and he has a 2001 Deck out of the car. He told me he would send it out to the local custom audio shop and find out about the LOW-level outputs (range)for me(us). The cool part is if the outputs are full range, then we can install add-ons using them to supply better equipment. In addition, he spoke with Honda-Tech Line and confirmed; all 2001 S2K's have the new countermeasrure clutch, fork, etc.

I will post the RCA information when it arrives.
