Default 2 different engines for 2002?

A self claimed "honda guy" was telling me that there were 2 engines in 2002. This is news to me, I am only aware that one was offered. But he was telling me that when he was looking up Honda performance parts there was an I-4 and L-4 engine for the 2002 S. I think this sounds likes a catalog misprint or error. I know "I" usually designates straight or inline 4 cy, not sure about L?

Only difference that I know about was the switch from 2-hole 4-hole oiling bolts at VIN# ~5000.

Yeah, probably one of those guys that believes everything they read on the internet. So this website makes a typo and he takes it as fact.
