I'm on the verge of buying a new 2002 s2000. I have a few questions that I can't seem to get a straight answer . Please help if you can.
I'm wondering if the 2002 models have addressed the following problems:
#4 cylinder failure?
1st to 2nd gear grind?

The sales organization will always tell you the problems are in the past.. details from the manufacturer are never forthcoming.. and the consumer will always find the truth in the field. We don't know.

 

Knowing how large these issues were, Im sure Honda has corrected them for 2002. All a part of Continuous Improvement. Gotta love Honda.

 

Unfortunately that is wishful thinking sometimes.

 

The reason there are no straight answers is that no reputable source has given them to us. Updates to parts have been made, but like any machine some are not perfect. #4 piston failure has been diligently tracked by one of our board members and appears to be isolated to a certain batch of cars in 2000 and 2001.

The grind is annoying, but does not occur in most cars, and has not been reported as commonly by owners of MY 2002 S2000s.
