I think you are going to run into structural design issues. Are you thinking of taking an OEM hardtop and cutting it? The rear mounting points alone will not be sufficient. Air will come in to the cabin and put rearward pressure on the top and it will act as a lever against the mounting points and will crumple the rear deck.

There will always be positive/negative opinions on anything outside the box.

It's now 50/50 in the polls!!!

If you went with a T-top design, you can still use the front anchor points. This would actually give the "permanent" hardtop people a little sun. Might not be a bad idea. Im thinking where the glass meets the roof to center of roof, on both sides, leaving a 2" bar connecting the rear section to the front section...

If someone put enough time and R&D into this, it might work, AND look good.

I agree a true targa wouldnt work. However, if T-top isnt your dish, you can have a removable center section, leaving the arches to hold the front mounting points.

I've thought about this a while back when the car first came out. I thought of something "del Sol-ish". The back side would mount like the standard hartop with the rear mounts holding the rear piece. The center "hard-targa" piece would latch to the windshield frame using OEM latches. It would also latch to the rear piece using two more latches identical to the fronts.

Thoughts?
