Do what I did... start with a car with 90 horsepower, and go up by 50-75 per year

25 years old now @ 525 rwhp or so on pump, no traction control, pacific northwest rainy weather. No accidents, super cheat insurance.

I think if my stock S2000 was my first car, I probably would've got in an accident. Take it easy.

Well, it all depends. If you treat your car with respect, it will do just fine with you. If you dont care about it, you will probably wrap it around a telephone pole. It is RWD and not the same as a FWD car. Touchy on the throttle

Do some research, especially when it comes to insurance, as this car is not loved by insurance companies depending on where you live!

What do people say about Ferraris? If you can afford one, go for it as it's an experience you will cherish forever....

25 y.o. Germany, perfect record, 1000 deductible full coverage rate is 2800 EUR a year! They just bumped the car up a few classes for next year which makes the premiums nearly 30% more......

if you're responsible and don't act like an idiot, you can even drive a ferrari. my first car was a 94 accord, and eventually fixed that up with a new engine and other go fast parts. had that for 4 years and eventually bought the s2000 as my 2nd car. if you have no experience with RWD, then you should never push the car to its limits(especially on curvy roads) and should take it slowly.

good luck.

I am also 20 yrs old and most likely getting a S2k. Started with a 92 accord, then moved to a 01 Prelude, and now going to a 01 S2k. In manitoba, canada we lucked out. We still have private insurance and cause I live on a farm, i just licence the car under my mom or dads name and it only cost about $1,000 CDN. Under my name it is around $1,800. Still not too bad!! I say go for it if the fundings there!!!

One of my buddies bought his S when he was 19 - dropped it in a ditch once, and has a rear differential on the fritz from drag racing. All in all, he has been good with it and I think he is learning more and more as he ages

BTW - I am 24.
