it's decision time !!!
I have located 2001 s2k at MSRP silver on red (my second color choice ). the dealer is 150 miles from here.
I have also been looking at a new 2000 s2k which the local dealer will sell me now for $1500 UNDER MSRP. this car is white over red, which is my first color choice. they will also throw in the floor mats and wind blocker.
this car has been sitting in the showroom for over 3 months, because this color combo is not popular (per some dealers I have talked to.)
WHICH ONE SHOULD I GRAB ?

Depends on what color you like the best.

Seems like you have tracked down some good prices.

Good luck.

Let's see:

1.) You want the white on red the most
2.) It's a 2000, meaning first production year
3.) You're getting a better deal

I think it is clear you should buy the 2000. That's what I did just 6 weeks ago - I bought a 2000 model as well. I'm happy as can be!

I don't know how your state works it but here
you would be paying less taxes on the buy and less each year when you reup the registration. Got to save some more dollars there. I would go with the 2000 year model. Less $$$ and first choice color (IMHO)

As further encouragement... I have to remind you that White / Red is the best color combination by far!

I'd get the 2000 for the color, the $$ and the fact that it likely has the mechanical fixes that are in the 2001. This problem was well identified by spring of 2000, and I doubt that Honda kept making cars with the faulty synchros when they were preparing a recall/service bulletin for the issue. My GUESS is that if the VIN is over 5000, it is probably clear of the trouble. And i guess the VIN is above this number if it has only been on the floor since Sept.

Not regretting White/Red on bit after 14 months! This is the color for this car. Japanese racecar Karma.

Look over both cars first hand, inspect every little detail very closely. And then let your heart decide. It sounds like a win-win scenario, you can't go wrong.

If you like the one under MSRP go for that one! Its your color choice you wanted. Yes look it over meticulously!

Just walk in with the service bullitins saying replace this this fix this and that and go from there! Hell see if they will put in the newer clutch for you when they do the 1-2 grind fix!
