I am planning to buy an 2000 S2k, I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of for the Y2k models since its the first production year of the S2000? Thanks for all info. Hopefully I can be a S2000 owner soon!

 

If you do a search, you'll probably find:
1) a couple of TSB to watch for - transmission grind, clutch noise, boot cover for top replacement
2) rear window wear

 

Other than what was just said, thats about it. The S2K is remarkably well built and reliable limited production car. You shouldnt have any worries buying a 2000. Just have the usuall things checked when buying a used car. Most importantly have the engine compression tested. Bad compression is a sign of an abused engine or even worse an abused car.....Good Luck

 

May not hurt to do a dyno - but do it with another car as a reference.

 

if you can get the '00 s2000 at a great price, just get it.

 

I own a '00 and never experienced any problems except for a cracked hood insulation due to excessive heat from track use.

The notable '01 improvements are probably limited to the free aero screen and a clock while the '02 model has been updated a bit more...
