2002 exterior colors...Black or Blue?
Got the go ahead from the boss to get a S2k. Went to the dealer today and plan on placing an order on Monday. One dilemma I'm facing is color choice as they had no cars in stock only little squares. I know I'll like black but concerns over blacks showing every swirl mark from washing and waxing has me still trying to decide. The Suzuka Blue looks interesting but can't really tell from the color palettes. Any folks out there who love the look of black and have seen a S2k in blue? Would appreciate your thoughts.
I saw first Suzuka blue yesterday. It's close to the light blue on about half the Z3"s around here. At first glance I thought it was a Z3. I like the black. It would have been my next choice after Silverstone (which is no longer available.)

Tough decision, but dont worry, you win either way. I went with the blk/blk, but like everyone states, it shows every little bit of dirt/swirl. if you're not into the dedicated upkeep and detailing of a black car, go with the blue. the black just has a sinister look about it...once its clean that is. another factor that went into getting the black was due to the black top itself. for me, when the top is up, a black car along with the black top look better than the two-tone look. just my .02 cents.
Once you've had Black......
Well, it's true!
NOTHING looks better clean, NOTHING shows dirt more. It is the only car color I have ever own, even on a company car....so just decided if the work is for you.
Enjoy your car!

I have Black and it looks good about 7 hours of every week.. about the time when the sun is going down.. other than that you can see every swirl and imperfection during the day and at night you cant even see the beautiful line sof hte ca r(which however does giv eit that stealthy look). i am going to be trading my black/black in for a 2002 white/red however thats my opinion.. go with the metallic color.. it wont show the imperfection that will make you dislike such a beautiful car.

I had the same concerns. I ordered a silver/red that wasn't gonna come in until June. The salesgirl called back and said they had a black/black and yellow in stock. I said ok, I'll just go and look at it but I'm gonna wait for my silver one. Forget that, I saw the black under the lights and didn't even drive it. I said I'll take it. It's an awesome color. Very eye catching. It has that stealthy look. Yes I've had it one week and already little swirls. But I still love it.
I agree with what the General said, when it's clean...OMG, but when it's not...EWWWWW.
Consider these things in your quest for the perfect S2K color choice for you ...
1. Black does hide the lines of the car, so being mistaken for a Miata or Z3 will be a daily thing.
2. Black will look dirty very easy, so most of the time you will not be getting that OMG look from peeps but the "man, if I had that car I'd at least wash it" look.
3. Black may be a classic color, but on an S2K it's just simple.
4. When your paint goes downhill will you still feel the same about the car? Are you a perfectionist like me, do you need the car to look killer all the time?
Want my advice? Well, I'm givin' it anyway...lol. If you get Sebring you can't go wrong, it will look clean most of the time, it'll look very "classy", and it'll show imperfections in the paint less so you can calm your "anal retentive" side if you have such. The same goes for Suzuka, but there will undoubtedly be less of them around (but more Z3's too look like). White, in my opinion, would be the perfect choice (if I weren't a sliver-car guy). White will look clean almost all the time, it is the rarest color, and is "classy" as well.
