better than 10 year old v8 neon.

seriously, i don't understand why people decide good and bad
according to the car's speed.
of course, this board is based on s2000, which is a sport/ sporty car, but come on now... you don't drag race 24- 7.

seemed like DavyT113 was pretty much all set on the viper,
and i was suggesting, if he wants a 10 year old semi- exotic car for $ 32000, why not "consider" another $ 32000 10 year old semi- exotic that would not fall apart as often as the viper.
if he really likes that "exotic" thing, that is.

Get the S2000 2002 since its new and as a Vortech Supercharger and u would beat vipers
Not going to happen with the stock Vortech kit. You would need a lot more than that. Vipers are still faster if you can launch them properly.

you're right, the nsx is another car to consider if that's the price range he's considering.
i looked at some nsx's before i bought the viper. drove a bunch of them, but it only took ONE ride in a Viper before i knew i had to have one. i drove the 96+ nsx's, so there was a bit power than an early nsx, but all in all, the car doesn't THRILL you like the viper does. heck, the s2k has more hp than an early nsx don't get me wrong, the car looks fantastic, performs well, but its a bit TOO civilized for me.
that's part of the bad rap the nsx gets. IMO, its like driving an accord.

..and all this talk about who cares how fast, etc. that's bs! if that was the case you'd be driving
something other than an s2k or another type of sports car, right? if you've never driven or ridden in a viper, then its difficult understand why anyone would want a car with 10-cylinders, 400+hp (stock Gen1), 450+tq (stock Gen1), no windows (Gen1), no doorhandles (Gen1), deafening side-pipes, and a radio you cant hear (i do have a/c!). may not be for everyone, but its an absolute BLAST!! you can call it a p.o.s, but those are the same people who will crane their necks to gawk at one as it drives by (i see ya lookin')

Oh and I would get the S2000 for a daily driver. I couldn't deal with the curtain windows on the old Vipers.

I stored a 1993 Viper for a friend for nearly a year so his wife couldn't get it in their divorce. I drove it a few times, but really didn't like it. The Viper is a race car that has been made street legal while the S2000 is a race car that has been civilized.

I consider Vipers to be evil beasts and would really hate to have to drive one every day. When I have a need to go fast, I do it on a motorcycle. Otherwise, the S2000 meets my need for speed on 4 wheels.

buy a old gen 1 viper iff: (if and only if)
-You don't plan to drive it in the rain or snow ..ever
-You are either very rich or are homeless because if you drive the car much the repairs will make you homeless..if you aren't rich - the hood costs $12k
-You have to have another car for a daily driver (goes with the first point)
-You don't mind finger prints on you're car every time you park it and leave it anywhere (everyone feels the need to touch it)
-You can handle people almost acting psycho just to get a look at it. This includes, but is not limited to, weaving in and out of traffic to give you thumbs up, getting very pissed if you don't give one back, revving on you for 10 stop lights in a row, marriage proposals from girls, guys and even sheep.

By the way..i'm buying a 2001-02 Gen 2 viper next year. I love em...nothing like em.
