Hello ALL,
Hope you are all doing great. I am currently in the PICKLE. My Soft top is faded with gray spots, but no leaks. Tried to clean it, but no luck. Currently the only option is that I have is to buy a protector like Raggtop and hopefully it will get darker.
And yes I did research the hell out of this topic for last couple of months and I am CONFUSED... I bought a 2002 s2000 6 months ago and I don't know if the Soft Top is Fabric or Vinyl. Many members out there state that it should be VInyl. Now, I don't if the previous owner changed the soft-top before, but here is what I have. The rear glass window says Honda on it. Would any of you guys know. Here are the pictures:
As a long time original owner, I tried 303 one time, once. Never again though. Even a few months after applying 303 the windows would always be streaked with oils from the 303 protectant. You would be way better off applying RagTop, buy the spray can, due two applications. The top will look great and bead water like it was treated with a fabric protectant.
If it's not leaking don't replace it. The fading is normal - 16 years of dehydration and sun exposure.
As mentioned above - 303 Aerospace protectant is good stuff and will help re-hydrate it.
When cleaning I use a leather brush or similar on it to lather it up. I just use my regular car shampoo.

You must have used a lot of 303. Never had this happen with many years of use. Maybe applied a bit too much. If you do go a bit heavy, the excess should be wiped off.
