Default 2002 S2K w/OEM Hardtop

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 S2K w/OEM Hardtop that has 22,500 miles. The price is $15,500, but I think I can get it down to $15K. KBB puts the private party at $15K for this year/miles w/Hardtop. No mods on car other than the guy chromed the stock AP1 wheels (yuck!). There are some scratches that are very noticeable on the driver-side mirror, front lip and front fender.

I've been looking for an S2K about a month and decided to find a forum to get some informed advice. I stumble on S2KI last night and registered. Thanks in advance for your advice/comments. Please feel free to flame me as newb

I paid 15,200 for a 2000 w/ 34,000 miles in May. No HT. I just picked up an OEM HT for 1750 (plus mounting kit) as well.

I think thats a screaming deal. Get it. Find a set of rims on craigslist.

*EDIT*
I didn't see the bit (i know, reading... who knew?!) about the bad scratches... better talk him down for sure.

Talk him down a little since the car is not cosmetically that good....means he probably didn't take good care of it. My 99 Integra looked flawless when I sold it last year, only because I babied it. No excuse for an 02 not to look even better.

i got a 2001 with a hardtop over the summer with 32k on it.
i got it for 16 and i feel i got a good deal, the car was in great shape (except i had to get the clutch replaced a few months later)

i feel like summertime sales can bring more for the car than a winter sale. if they want to get rid of it, no one wants a convertible in the winter, so you can probably get a better price.

KBB really jips you if you list hardtop as an option. I priced mine out and the difference with/without the HT was 750.00. If the owner was smart he would sell it individually for 2k.

Fair deal, always offer a lower price though. You can always go up in price.

Thanks all for your advice. I've been thinking this is a decent deal, but its always good to check with others. As "ThuG LyFe" suggested above, I had already offered $14K even, to which I got a big . I think I'll try somewhere between that and the $15.5K the seller asked for and hopefully get in the $14.5-$15K range.

Make sure to look at the soft top. He may have the hardtop on there because the soft top could possibly be ripped.
