2003 fair price?
I'm pretty new here, but hope some veteran S2K folks can help. I'm seriously looking at a 2003 S2K. I'm planning to test drive it this weekend for the first time and need some advice.
The car is a lease return from Florida sold through a Honda auction to an Acura dealer. It has almost 36,000 miles and the dealer is asking $22,400. That price is slightly below Kelly Blue Book for excellent condition, but what I need to know is whether there might be wiggle room. What would be a fair counter offer to get the talking started?
On a 2003 model, are there any particular things to watch for or be aware of?
In anticipation of really joining the group, my thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

thats a pretty penny for an 03 with the much miles. After tax and title issue you'll bump your total to at least 25k, try looking around some more cause when i was looking around i found the car i wanted which was a 2005 NFR s2000 with only 2Kmiles for 25k including TT and L, still has factory warranty until july 2008 + 7year 100k extended warranty
Too expensive. For reference, I picked up mine about 2 weeks ago. 2005 suzuka 6000 miles for 23,844 before tax and lic
I'm sure if you haggle, you should be able to get it around the mid 19k

i paid 23100 for my 03. i bought it in 02/06 and it had 17k on it. i got it from a honda dealer with the 100k warrantly. they are asking a little much for it, but it is spring and you'll pay a premium for a convertible this time of year. offer 20,500. that's not an insult to the seller and it shows your serios. don't pay more than 21000. just my opinion
Thanks to all for your advice. This helps a lot.
I should have mentioned that I am in Indiana and the current supply of S2Ks isn't that great. There are a few 00 and 01 but the miles and price seem high to me $17k to $19.5K for cars with around 40,000 miles. There is an 04 less than 30 miles from me that only has 8,000 miles on it, but the dealer is asking almost $27K!
The best potential deal I found was a 2000 for $15,000 but the Carfax report turned up that the car had been heavily crashed a couple of years ago.

Keep looking. I fell into a great deal. 4 years ago My buddy was trading his 01 S2000 in on a new NSX. They gave him $24K for the S. Mind you, it only had 6K miles on it and he had bought a Hardtop for it. Dealership turned around and sold it to me for the same $24K. So I got basically a 2 year old S2000 with only 6K miles, with a HT for that price.
