Default 2004 2.2 engine swap into the MY 00-03?

Out of curiousity.
With the new enging in the MY 04, later on if any of our engine blows is it possible to put the MY 04 engine in our MY 03? What would be reguired?

We will have to wait and see. But it would be my guess that the Engine and ECU would be all you would need. The tranny should bolt right up.

why dont build a stroker kit with the 2.2L specs

as I see in some post the new 2.2L is 88mm x 88.5mm and our engine is 87mm x 84mm

You would also need a new differential to handle the increased torque and the fact that you need different gearing.

Longer stroke=shorter conn. rod=more eng. stress=lower redline

Screw the 04 engine, sleeve and overbore the current engine!!! More cc's, same revs (or more!).

It probably is the 2.0 engine, just stroked with some changed gearing and some electronics. Kind of like what they did with the old Chevy 327. They just stroked it to 350. Well, I don't think they had electronics in those days. LOL The old Chevy 348's with porcupine heads were bored and stroked to the fabled 409's. There's alot you can do with the same block.

Actually, there are strong rumors of switching to a K-series engine for the 2.2l. I dont know if this has been disproven yet, but it does make sense: More aftermarket mods available from K20a tuners, plus it would probably be cheaper to bore out K20a's than to keep producing the F20c just for the s2000.

Then again, if Honda has already decided to stick with the F-series engine, then my post was utterly pointless

For cheaper, I bet you could duplicate my Vortech 355 @ wheels setup.

I wish Honda was dropping the K Series into the S2k, though I doubt it, as the K is transversly mounted vs. the F20's longitudinally mounted. However, I do think the 2.2 will have a flashable ECU, which is great. YOu don't have to buy a $1500 ecu and lose some of your factory features to gain a couple of HP.

It also sounds like the 2.2 will be less "tuned" from the factory, so it may be able to add 20 hp or so with bolt ons, versus the current lack of "easy hp"
