Default 2004 Clear Bra

Howdy folks--

I priced a clear bra (XPel or 3M) installation in San Antonio for my '04 S2000.

Here's the details:

--The installer said that XPel/3M did not have an '04 kit ready yet;
--He anticipated that the price would stay approximately the same as the '03's kit ($179 fenders/hood; $279 front bumper), plus installation of $350;
--I offered to have him/XPel use my car as the template, thinking that I would get a price break;
--He offered 10% off on the installation.

I think almost $800 is a bit much for the "protection" offered by a clear bra.

Y'all's thoughts?

Thanks

Rhino, that seems like a lot of money, yet not as much as some folks have paid. (Would you believe $1300.00? ) Then there are those who paid less than $500.00 for the complete installed kit.
You might like to know that there are shops out there that can do a custom install WITHOUT a pre-cut kit. In Calgary, a couple of owners had theirs done by a shop that did it from bulk stock and cut the film on the car freehand. Both turned out even better than the pre-cut kits. The added bonus was the whole thing cost $600.00 CANADIAN. (You do the conversion.)

Do a search for " armourfend" it may give you links to the UK but there should be some US installers.

$800 is way too much for the clear bra installed.

Did you say $350.00 for the labor. That install takes about 2-3 hours at most. That's over $100 an hour. Wow.

You can pick the kit up for $350-450 then install. A typical rate should be around $200 for the install at most. I would just keep checking around and see what else you can find.

BTW, There is a lot of talk about LLumar film which right of the box is great, but time will tell that if it really is better. A buddy of mine has it on his white Escalade since that color is known for having a tint of ywllow look with the 3M on it. It was really clear when it went on, but after three months it has more yellowish look than the 3M ScotchCal does. This guy has his vehicles spotless as well ALL the time so I know it isnt from not taking care of his truck. 3M will also be releasing a new version of their film at the end of the month as well so we will have to see.

Does this film always produce a yellow tint or is there a proven brand that doesnt. Does anyone know how stuff like Zaino will do on this clear bra? Will it not be as shiny with the clear bra than without? Finally can u tell the difference between a panel with the film over it and without? Sorry for all the questions guys but the NFR paint isnt that durable. Thanks
