2004 and Comptech Intake...
I had my comptech intake put on my 04 a few weeks ago and it feels like I did not get any sort of gain. Almost feels like I lost a few hp. Anyone els with an 04 have this experience? I will say one thing though, the sound the intake makes is amazing. I really do like my comptech intake I just am curious if anyone els has had this experience. Maybe my butt byno is way off. This is the first time I have ever had an after market part on a car I own before.
Funny you should say this....I put the Comptech CAI on my 04 about 2 weeks ago and thought I noticed an immediate drop in the power. I wasn't sure if it was some mismatch from the butt dyno and the increased intake noise or what. As have put a few tanks through it, the apparent loss has lessened, but I still feel it. I think low rpm throttle response may have improved, but wide open I think there is a loss.
Well, Comptech's Icebox is not a real CAI. It's just a short ram intake with tubing for cold air.
Don't short ram intakes give more throttle response & less top-end, and vice versa?
I installed an AEM V2 and I feel more power top-end.

I am still thinking that the intake is drawing in hot air from the engine bay but I am not 100% sure on this matter. I am going to make a snorkle for the intake as soon as it stops raining here in Florida. Also when I put the intake on the tempature out side went way up. Its been in the 90s here or at least it feels alot hotter then when I had the intake on. Maybe its becasue of all this heat, I don't know. I really do like the sound and don't want to go back to stock but when I floor it, it does not feel as fast as stock. I don't know. Any advise would be great. Thanks
This homemade ram air will get fresh cool air into your box and eliminate the bog and power loss feeling on your Comptech. The funnel and shop vac hose are drilled and joined with heavy duty zip ties and sealed with electrical tape. Everything is black and not visable from a couple feet away.
That looks like a 04. My question is, is it a 04? Also I am having trouble with the prop rod. I have cut alot of the box cover and I am starting to get close to the side of the box cover. Will it crack if I get to close and how close is to close? Thanks

The trick is to hold the hood up with your head while bending the prop rod and putting the very end in the carbon lid first. Poor design by Comptech if you ask me. With the amount of money that they charge for that intake you'd think they would put some more effort into the details of the fit and finish of their product!
Comptech isn't a "short ram". The intake length is the same as the stock. There is thread about the physics behind intakes in UTH forum.
No CAI is going to give you a huge gain, better throttle response, and better sound is about it. The AEM is the best intake out there, BUT there is a real risk of hydrolock.
Question: did you reset your ECU? If not, do so.
