I've also contemplated doing something similar to this with my K&N, except I was thinking about cutting the front of the k&n to fit a snorkel; however this thread has proposed a new idea to me.
This isn't the final Idea, but I'm exhausted and it's the only way that makes sense to explain it in my head right now, and building off your idea. What if you were to say incapsulate the filter with a oil funnel, cut the end so it fits flush with the filter and then connect the end of it with say a samco hose which I believe would produce a better/smoother/possibly cooler airflow than the home depot type hose you're running. Also it would seem by encapsulating the filter would would pull in less random pollutants and help remove excess engine heatsoak.
Any thoughts?
