2004 hardtop on 2001s2k

Quick question for you guys.

I noticed different mounting kit is needed for 2001 and 2002+.
does that mean I cannot install 2004 hardtop + mounting kit on my 2001 s2k?

As far as I know the hardtops are the same - it's the mounting HW that has to be changed. An 06 HT will fit on an 01 AP1 with the correct hardware.
