Honda doesn't have any plans on doing anything (soon) to the S2000. The whole philosophy behind that car was that it was going to be a bare bones quintessential roadsters for the 2000's. There are no options, there are no facelifts and there are no trim models. Just a basic sports car that has factory r&d that's at a level higher than most -- at a reasonable cost. It's also honda's way of displaying the effectiveness of VTEC to the rest of the world.
All this bs about 3.0 inline six type "r" or hatchback versions are all false at this point.

The next version will be powered by a Mr. Fusion, 1.21 "jiggawatt" power source.

(I love the way some of you guys speak with authority about what's coming next... You crack me up! )

For those who think that the s2000 is not limited -- you are wrong. S2000 are limited, evidenced by the fact that each dealer only gets a couple per month! As far as making a killing or selling it at invoice and gobbling up all this holback money, are you forgetting FLOORING you car dealer geniuses? Who pays for the interest when the cars are there? Who pays for the advertising expense? Who pays for all those things that are involved in keeping the car looking spic and span until it gets sold? The dealer pays for all that stuff. So for you guys to continually insult the dealers and accusing them of being idiots who want to rape an pillage all the innocent customers who never lie on their credit applications, remember one thing: nobody is making a killing. Even the dealer markup goes to cover all the Civics that are sold thousands below invoice.... For those who pride themselves on getting a car at invoice -- congratulations! But don't expect it because it's not nice. When was the last time you walked into a department store and offered to pay their cost on a shirt?
That's what I thought.
Everybody deserves to make a little money and the more S2000 and similar cars we buy, the more of an impact we have in the direction of car design and the worthiness of the opinions of car enthusiasts world wide (as opposed to opinions of tree huggers, feminists and bean counters).

Another thing:

If you remember on the NSX, it was quite few years b4 they did anything. And when they did, it was just a little increase in displacement from 3.0 to 3.2. Hp didn't change much. It was mainly the torque. The NSX was behind in the hp game quite significantly and it was ok. They still sold cars. They never intended to sell a whole bunch. Just like the s2k. It was '02 when the NSX got it's first redesign. Maybe my math is marginal, but I want to say that's 11 years!?

Who wants to put a deposit down on a 2011 s2000?

hrmm..... I say is that...... I doubt honda will make such a car..... if you look at what type of cars honda make it seems like they make "small tuned engines" and about the guy who said they need to tune the s2k engine more..... I don't think that is possible..... I think it is already tuned to the fullest (as far as stocked wise).

Also, I am still going to get a s2000 (well hopefully I am), and right now I think the body it already has is flawless... I don't believe there is a better way to make it look better... just my thoughts.
Hello? Dude was not serious. Apparently you did not pick up on the sarcasm.

As far as the rest of the posts on here I think Slick Rick is one of the very few that makes any sense at all.

I worked for Honda in their Marysville Accord plant. Believe me, Honda is one of the most secretive companies in the world. They bought the Transportation Research Center in Marysville, Oh. It is a 7 mile oval test track. Shortly after they bought it, they installed observation towers and garages all around the track. When anyone approaches the track from the fences or EVEN IF AN AIRPLANE FLIES OVER HEAD ALL OF THE CARS PULL INTO THE GARAGES SO THEY CAN NOT BE SEEN OR PHOTOGRAPHED. They have engineering facilities in Ohio that are so far off into the woods that they can not be seen from the public roads. This is just an example of their secrecy. Anything you hear about any Honda product that comes out more than 6 months before the release is utter BULLSHIT or has been announced by Honda itself. You will hear the FACTS about a new S2000(if it is ever built) if and when Honda and ONLY Honda wants you to.

I agree that Honda is very secretive but...

Boy, this just keeps getting better. Guess what dude-man....? with the help of myself and others we knew long before any public release of a glass window. If you knew anything about this board you would know the depth of knowledge that resides here (not necessarily me included but...). Can we always be 100% ? Hell no! Do we know a lot about what goes on? You guessed it....! Damn right we do. Some guys have actually made trips to Japan to the plant and some of it's sister mod plants cause we're nosey. You've got patent attorneys, friends in high places, sources that cover virtually every region on this planet, and people that won't give up until they find what they're in search of. Some here do not realize how embedded some of our board members are in what happens. I wonder why Honda monitors this board and actually makes some decisions based on what we discover ie: defects, design flaws, etc. We have a powerful tool. Don't underestimate it!

You too have not taken the time to read the other posts in this thread!

Guys...It's true. In fact, the all new 04 s2000's engine will be totally redesigned. My source tells me that the new engine would be a HYBRID...and it will recharge it self by retracting the rag top!!!

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back! Finding out that they were putting in a glass rear window is not exactly an earth shaking discovery! But, If you feel the need to make yourself and the other members feel good about yourselves you go right ahead. Believe me, when they want you to know, you will know.

I doubt that we'll see any drastic improvement in the near future for our toy. However, it will burn my butt even more than the 350Z if we find that Porche, Nissan, BMW, et al. steal all of our thunder by upgrading their roadsters while we stay the same.

At a minimum, I want I-VTEC, more HP/torque and perhaps more attention to light weight. Certainly there would be a substantial price increase for aluminum A arms, Ti exhaust, etc., but I'd be willing to pay for it. The method they use to increase HP/torque could be bigger engine, higher compression ratio, stronger & lighter valve train, etc. No reason why they could not fairly easily use stronger internals, Ti valve seats, stainless valves, more aggressive cams, and so on to get the present engine to spin at 12,000 or more safely. That could be done w/o increasing engine capacity.

Lots of options to increase power w/o major redesign. I admit, however, that I don't know what would be involved in upgrading to I-VTEC. Maybe my ignorance is responsible for my bliss?
