Hey guys im new to this board and i just got rid of my 514rwhp 2001 procharged mustang cobra. Towards the end of my ownership of the cobra i started road racing, and i loved it. So now i want a car with amazing handling. Im debating the 350z and the s2000. Ive been reading and it seems the 04 has about 26 more hp and tq. I still love straight line speed too. Now Ive seen some pre 04 s2000's go 13.9 in the 1/4, do you think the 04 is capable of a 13.6? I think so but i wanted some opinions.
Finally, ive seen some turbo kits using 7psi and making high 290 range, do you think that power on this motor will last, or will a rebuld be needed in the future.

thanx for all your advice please dont make this a pissing match between pre 04s and 04s i just want some honest advice. Ive seen a few threads just get out of hand...

Basicially throw me some education on the car, common modifications and all. Im leaning towards the s2000 as my next project. I want a bad ass track car, that has GO too..

yea i did,
All i really found as usefull info was on that vetec.net article. that the car was .2 faster from 30-70mph. I wanted some real world opinions.
Seems like at that rate that the new s2000 could dip into mid 13.5-.7 No problem with a good driver behind the wheel.

Well with more torque and hp and the shorter gearing, there SHOULD be a definet increase in accel. How much? nobody knows yet for sure but its been said that the 03 and 04's feel the same from the butt dyno's.

As far as making a S2k into a HP and straightline monster, its going to be hard. Turbocharging the S requires ALOT of tuning and so far nobody has much luck with it (except for some). Parts for this car cost way way way more than parts for your cobra. The best bet to go straight would be a supercharger but do expect to rebuild the rear end often because the differential wont take the abuse for long if you keep dropping the clutch.

As far as handling goes, well its awesome. Rides like its on rails and this car can be made into one hell of a track car. Theres alot of suspension upgrades etc for this car and im sure you will have fun with it if thats what your aiming for. Just dont go looking into beating supercharged ws6's and 03 Cobras down the straightline with this car... its not going to happen (anytime soon)

This car is FUN, has GREAT looks, and you will turn heads wherever you go. Reliability is well, its a Honda thats all I have to say for that.

no no i dont plan on beating 03 cobras lol.. I just want a repectable car that every sti and evo wont beat on.
How about some N/A mods... with a good amount of na mods what kind of power does this car put out?

Hmm thats hard to say, I dont even know how much the spoon motor puts out or any of that sort. Someone is trying out ITB and hes trying to push 250whp from a 01(?) I think and he seems to be making progress. Who knows, some are doubting him but im waiting for the dyno results to tell the truth.

A bolt on supercharger would definetly put you in the leagues of stock/lightly modded STI/Evos. Couple the supercharger with some 4.77 gearings and you have yourself a very quick car. I just dont recommend doing much launchs with it, only from a roll lol.

Maybe a Spool Turbo kit stage 2 and then throw in the 4.56 rear gear in a comptech reinforced diff, might as well do the clutch while youre at it. Now that would be quick to say the least.
