Default 2004 S2000 Purchase

Hello Im new to the forums and Im current in the us navy active and I plan to purchase the 04 s2k and I was wondering if any one knows if theres any military discounts or if the insurance rate is lower. And also how much does ppl buy the s2ks for? On of my friend said even if the msrp is $33+ most ppl actually buy it for around $28k..I was wondering if this is true...

I doubt anyone gets it below msrp at a dealer.. brand new ones atleast.. you can find them cheaper through the links off s2ki.. the best discount you can get is one that comes with a used car off ebay.. find one from a honda dealer on ebay, a year or two old, you can still get a 7 year warranty and you pay a auction price.. worked for me

Not true... There are whole threads on this board where people are posting their out-the-door price (generally total price before tax and tags). Surprisingly, people in California have been doing pretty well getting deals below MSRP. However, since Honda doesn't generally have any kind of rebates, it's difficult to get anything less than invoice.

Edmunds shows invoice at $29,505. I'd say you should be able to do $30,000 - $30,500 if you shop around a little. The dealer will get the difference plus holdback.

Unfortunately, dealers in SC don't seem to be getting enough S2000s to allow customers any breathing room. I suppose I'll travel to get mine.

Shop around and do some research on the web (Edmunds, etc.). Good luck!

i GOT MINE LAST YEAR FOR $1000 UNDER MSRP - AND GOT A GOOD DISCOUNT FROM THE DEALER ON HARDTOP, SPOILER FRONT LIP ETC. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU WILL DO ON THE 2004 MODEL. THEY MAY BE IN DEMAND WITH THE NEW CHANGES (2.2 LITER ENGINE, 17" WHEELS AND A WING AVAILABLE) IT DOES APPEAR THAT THERE ARE BETTER DEALS ON THE WEST COAST (MORE DEALERS = MORE COMPETION) IN PA IT IS PRETTY MUCH MSRP. GOOD LUCK ON THE PURCHASE AND REMEMBER TO BREAK THE CAR IN RIGHT. YOU WILL LOVE THE RIDE AND CHERISH THE COMMENTS FROM OTHER WANTA BE'S.;

yeah the '04 is going to be hot...so you better buy it quick before the weather starts to get nice again...or else you might not be getting the color you want....buy one buy one buy one...you'll love it!

Below MSRP is totally doable! I live in so/cal and got my 04 out the door for $34,795. Turned out to be well under MSRP. A car model that is going on 5 years old should never, ever be any higher than MSRP (and do not let them tell you it is because of limited numbers...blah).

If you are looking in so/cal, hit up Honda of Oxnard - call and ask for Kenny Fryer. He is one of their Internet sales managers. They are part of the DCH out group which out here is huge..so they always have a couple on the lot and can trade with their sister store in Gardena CA.

I could have bought my '04 at $31.2k, less tax. That's $1,600 under sticker. However, I chose to lease.

I've got insurance with USAA since their specialty is military folk. I'm not sure if there is a military discount, but from what I've seen, USAA's insurance is some of the cheapest insurance around.
