Default 2004 s2000 vs. 2003

I'm in the market for an s2000, i have test drove both the 2003 and 2004 models. To me the 2003 felt faster and more precise, whereas the 2004 looks better on the outside and inside but I miss the 9k redline on the 03 as well as the transmission. What would you choose? Whats your input? What should I go with?

I would choose 2003. I can guarantee you that you'll have a bunch of people who choose 2004 also. It's personal preference.

There is a similar thread that I recently posted in concerning a similar topic, I don;t know how many miles were on the 04 that youe tested, but read what I had to say here,

I can't comment on the suspension because I have never driven the car. However in defense of the engine I will say this. I owned an RSX -S, and spun, several bearings in the lower half, long story. Anyway, the lower half was completely rebuilt, and when I got the car back I almost cryed, it was ungodly slow, due to a brand new extremely tight lower half. That being said, you guys that are testing these brand new 04's, they are no where near broken in. My acura, did not get fast again until at least 1000 miles, the new engine was so tight, it was like a night and day difference. I think if you test drove a 2.2 with some miles on it, you would be suprised, just something to think about.

For what it is worth we have a 2002 and a 2004 in our driveway - I own the 2002 and I am keeping it, I had a chance to trade it in but after driving my girlfriends 2004 at Sebring and hopping back in mine at Sebring, I made the right decision - keep in mind I have done work to mine and It suits my driving style - her car stock and seems really soft and loose compared to my 2002. 2004 is definately a friendlier car but it is still an S2000 through and through!

If you plan on buying and eventually selling, go for the 04. If your probably going to keep the car, buy the 03. If your leasing, go with the cheaper rate...

Just my point-Oh-two...
