How about we agree that they are both great cars! It reminds me of Corvette owners. An old 60's Vette with the max hp 427 is considered an awesome car...and it is, but it isn't as fast as a bone stock 2004 Vette. So which is "better"? They are both great for different reasons.
I'm really sick of these posts (Try searching!!!). First off most people are comparing stock s2000s to each other, saying the 04 suspension feels 'soft' compared to the pre 03 models. If you're not planning on modding the car, the 03 will oversteer more out of the box but will feel a little twitchier and raw. The 04 will have less oversteer, feel better as a daily driver, and be more stable at higher speeds.
I personally plan on modding the _sh1t_ out of mine so I really don't care. If you don't know much about suspension tuning and don't care then buy whichever model suits you best. The real difference is that the new model has more whp/torque at lower rpms (dyno proven) and a lower redline. And trust me, the 04 can be made to handle just as well as the 03.

I had the same decision at hand a couple months ago.
I went with the 04, mainly based on costmetics and ride.
I had the same concerns with the 9k rpm redline. Now that I am used to the 04, I really don't miss the extra 1k rpm. The 04 is strong.
To be 100% honest, the pre-04's did give you more time between shifts once in the VTEC. I am still getting a feel for when to shift and find myself having to watch the RPm gauge often to avoid over-reving the 04.

what i am mainly concerned about is not the handling/suspension soo much, seeing how i will be putting in aftermarket parts, but the fact that the gears are longer in the 03', thus it seemed like the 03' was quicker, if not quicker more fun to drive.
Question: if i were to get an 03' would the new aluminum interior pieces from the 04' fit right into the 03'?
Thanks in advance
