California is a different animal. I'd put it up for $30k and take the first offer of 28-29k.

The model isn't that accurate according to what's on Autotrader at the moment. The car's in the category as the OP's, condition and close enough mileage, are listed between $27,000+ and $39,000+. While that's a wide swing and probably not that reasonable, especially at the $39,000+ level (except for the two with 3,000 miles)...nobody is buying his car for $20,000 unless he's desperate to sell! The lowest mileage car for $20,000 has 34,000+ miles. The OP can sell his car immediately for $20,000...but that's not the going rate by any means.

If the model proves undervalued make an adjustment, I'm not wedded to it and just reviewing what I've been seeing in rough numbers. Couple thousand either way makes little difference. And, like us all, I'm a victim of my own bias and can't figure why anyone would want a pre-2006 car and not have the latest S2000 technology.

The model is a moving target of values (sales prices), not advertised or asking prices. No one pays asking prices as we all know they're inflated and owners have placed infatuated "values" on their cars. I love the ads where guys want cash deposits before test drives and want their (discarded) cars to go to good homes as if they were puppies. Note that all those "Firm" prices typically get adjusted down toward reality prices, often several times. No model can account for true collector cars nor the auctions which are typically one-off cars.

Different strokes... Your reason for wanting a post 2005 S2K (the latest technology) is in direct contrast with my reason for wanting a pre 2006 model. Simply put, if I have the option of avoiding a drive by wire throttle system I am going to take it. The fact that this eliminates the option of VSA for me is primarily a byproduct of my intentional avoidance of the DBW system.

I can understand and appreciate why others feel differently than myself (yes, even you Chuck). Thankfully the S2000 was around long enough to see that we do have options when it comes to this sort of thing.
