2004 Seat belt chime
Just traded my Spa yellow 01 for a Sebring silver 04. Impressions so far are good, although still not broken in, so haven't had a chance to really see how it compares. But there is definietely more low-end torque, and the overall feel is more confident, I guess due to the stiffened chassis. Seems like the new one will not have the kick-in-the-ass power surge at 6K, but isn't that the point? Sure, all 00-03 drivers seem to love this, but isn't smooth on-demand power across the whole band the ultimate design goal? I remember when turbos were first becoming popular (this goes back a-ways, I'm an old fart), the biggest complaint against them was turbo lag, and manufacturers far and wide did everything they could to reduce or eliminate it. Well, that's what Honda has done to the VTEC kick - no more lag, the power is there NOW. (trying to talk myself into this thing). Anyway, the original point - the 04 has one very cheesy feature: if the driver does not fasten his seat belt, a periodic chime rings as a reminder. How Ford-ish! Anyone know how to defeat this piece-o-crap?
