geez you have a lot of cars!!
i think you should go for an 04, from your post, it seems like you are favoring it a lot. Sure your 00 is one of the first made, as you said, but it is just a number! they are all the same if you ask me, because they are all s2000's, think of it this way, if you have 2 or more kids, do you love the younger child any more than you love the older child, or vica versa?
do what you feel is best, but i think you should get an 04

For me this is a cash deal. My wife doesn't want to spend the cash...but she will go along.

I had been eyeing Bilstein shocks. Those odd sized 16" tires are a problem. I could go with 225/50 front, 245/45 rear. Maybe the springs with the Bilsteins would be enough. Maybe a front bar is needed. Maybe a smaller rear bar. Maybe 17" wheels, but now we've added $1-2k.

So if I get an '04, all of this is handled. I generally don't modify street cars. The mods can actually reduce resale value. On the other hand, $5k could get you a $10k more expensive car. In most cases, that's the way I've went.

When I want to go wild with mods, I do it to the race car. Soft spring/Big Bar, 4-piston AP brakes with PFC rotors and PFC 01 pads, custom Bilstein shocks, Crower Ultralight crank, Manley 300M "Tourlight" Honda journal rods, cam with 1.8 rockers, etc. Tires I go through in a weekend. At $600/set, although just three are all that are really needed (LF doesn't do much).

I love buzzing the heck out of the Honda. On the other hand, a more peaceful S2000 would get more than 3k miles/yr (I drive about 30-35k miles/yr).
