Honda said "This increase comes as a result of increased operating costs, such as rising costs of steel, and currency exchange rate factors." so yes the Dollar vs Yen bit could be a factor as well.

Looks like the pricing changed Feb 15th.

Used to be 120 Dollars per Yen, now it's around 105.

So a $32,415 S2000 in year 2000 gave Honda 3,889,800 Yen.
Today, a $33,195 only yields 3,485,475 Yen, about a 10% drop.

And did you read how Honda and Toyota are giving American car makers the finger by saying they're not going to raise prices to help out American makers (including GM who lost $1.1 billion the past quarter.) This is despite words that the Toyota chairman said to the contrary.

And from another news article:

Honda dropped 1.7 percent to 5,100 yen. The world's biggest motorbike maker and Japan's third-biggest auto maker on Tuesday posted a 27 percent jump in fourth-quarter net earnings on brisk overseas sales, but forecast its first earnings drop in five years for 2005/06 due to stiff competition in China.
Weird stuff going on...

Does that include taxes? Or are they added on to the list price? Our prices don't include tax.

Even with taxes and a hardtop ours are still much less expensive. And we don't have to pay extra for any of the colors.
